local school is certainly doing its part to conserve water recycled water source for it's landscaping and its efforts are providing valuable lessons for students I would have to support Marc cota-robles shows us how I'm in California's record route students at LA River school and go sell Park are not only learning about water conservation they're leading by example it's one of only three schools in the district that is tapping into a cycled water source for its landscaping around a campus to be as efficient as we can and Ray is Flores an actual farmer who works part-time at the school he helped the students install a drip irrigation system the students learn about your gation they learn why it's important why saves water house more efficient the fine instead of when it sprinkles out evaporates to the Sun by next year the campus hope to conserve even more they're building a greenhouse to help grow more drought resistant plants and will soon install Rain Barrels to collect any precipitation that falls this upcoming winter and the water conservation efforts go far beyond just drip irrigation would you believe that animals like Cheeto here are also doing their part to conserve on campus here we try to take a lot of the food waste from the cafeteria for breakfast in the classroom at anything that it's over to give to the animals the chickens the Ducks and to the pig in that way most of their food is coming from a reclaim Source also just kind of like the reclaimed water so you can try to take that water footprint away from from the animals here and the conservation efforts are occurring at schools district wide within three years LAUSD plants to save more than 150 million gallons of water a year students like Moises say he takes the job seriously he's doing what he can at home say showers I take quick showers and whenever I see a leak I pointed out and try to fix it work could Robles ABC7 Eyewitness News what do you have a water saving tips to help California beef and ground post it online with a hashtag ABC7 drowned or uploaded to a free ABC7 app and we're sharing your drowned busting ID is right here and I would just
